Hair Dos!

In Uncategorized on September 24, 2011 at 8:04 am

I really wanted to title this post “Hair Dos (and Don’ts!)” mainly ‘coz it sounded super witty, but since I don’t actually have any ‘hair don’ts’ and the post is more about hair styles than what one should do with one’s hair, I have decided to leave it alone.

While looking through the website (and my Inspiration Board I realised that I hadn’t shown you what I planned on doing with the bridesmaids and my hair (though I’ve mentioned chignons for the bridesmaids).

So, behold, the hair inspiration pics (sorry, I can’t recall where I got them to give them credit. If you know, tell me and I’ll update the post):

My Inspiration Board

I think I mentioned a while ago that I should have a go at putting together my own ‘Inspiration Board’.

Well, I have finally done it and I have a new-found respect for everyone out there in the multiverse that makes it look so flawless and easy!

Behold, my attempt at an Inspiration Board:

Birdcage Veil and Headpiece

In 2011, Outfits, September 2011, Veil on September 21, 2011 at 9:46 am

I’ve been trying to create my own headpiece based on this image from Brenda’s Bridal Veils:

Vintage Hairpiece

I bought two flowers, with the idea of practicing on one, and then using the other as the actual hairpiece.

Well, after a few days of playing around with slides, and clips and bobby pins and a miscellany of other ways of fixing the flower in my hair I’ve concluded that 1. it’s harder than it looks and 2. I’m not sure it’s really me.

While I love the idea of the birdcage veil, and may still try to create it just for a few of the professional photographs, I think I’m just going to stick with an elbow length veil for the ceremony, and then be veil-less at the reception.

Now I’ll have to see whether there’s a way to turn the brooch that matches my jewellery into some sort of hairclip…

Honeymoon

In Uncategorized on September 15, 2011 at 8:45 am

The fiance has finally agreed that we can honeymoon in Europe (yay!) so now we’ve just got to work out where we’re going, for how long, and how much it’s going to cost (gulp!).

So far I’ve been trying to have a play around on Zuji which is a great comparison site, by the way, but despite the fact that they list the option for flights in September, 2012 they very frustratingly will only search for dates within 353 dates of today.

So, does anyone any suggestions about airlines, hotels, locations or websites that’re worth looking at?

It has occurred to me that I haven’t yet included pictures of what the ceremony location looks like (very slack, I know), so I thought I would remedy that with some photographs.

Pretty, huh?

Photograph Washes

In 2011, Inspiration, Photography, September 2011 on September 3, 2011 at 2:50 am

I really love the look of vintage style photographs, but I’m not sure my photographer (who is lovely, but by necessity had to be one of the budget ones) does the vintage wash photographs, so I’ve been trying to get the fiance (who’s pretty handy with photoshop) to agree to try to make them look vintage style after we receive them.

And now I’ve found a handy website that gives some hints about how to do it here. Think I’ll be passing those onto him, now!

We’re Making Progress

In 2011, Reception, September 2011 on September 2, 2011 at 12:03 am

In a spurt of enthusiasm yesterday progress has been made on the wedding arrangement front (and about time, too, I’ve been sitting on some of this stuff for a few months!).

I met with the Victoria Hotel, which is where we plan on having the reception (in their Swanston Room which has a lovely art deco feel, but alas, not nearly enough photographs). Here’s one I found on the Victoria Hotel’s website. I think it’s currently set up for a conference, so you’ll have to pretend it has centrepieces and chair covers.

They’ve been really helpful and have one of the better value packages that we’ve managed to find in Melbourne (and their food looks delicious). After much discussion, I think the fiance and I have agreed on the following menu (in a 50/50 drop):

Entree – Roast Pumpkin & Sweet Potato soup / Vegetable Tartlet
Main – Prime Porterhouse Steak / Chicken Mediterranean
Dessert – Strawberry Shortcake Sandwich / Sticky Toffee Pudding

I also managed to find myself a wedding ring as a jeweller in the CBD was having a closing down sale so I got it for 40% off. Of course, it was still horrendously priced for what it is. I have no idea how they manage to get away with charging such ludicrous prices!

It’s a Miracle!

So I mentioned that I couldn’t find the invitation inspiration that I had originally found.

Well, while searching for a revised guest list that the fiance allegedly emailed me, I managed to find the original inspiration!

Though of course, now I can’t work out which I prefer!
